The Old Flying Machine Company is proud to
have operated the aircraft of the Breitling Fighters.

From 1999 until 2003 the company flew the highly popular and unique 'Breitling Fighters', consisting of four World War Two fighters, at displays all over Europe

During the summer of 2003, Breitling Fighters for a final time displayed their unique and extremely popular formation aerobatic fourship throughout Europe. The diverse cross section of WW2 piston fighter aircraft - FG-1D Corsair G-BXUL, Spitfire IX G-ASJV, P51D Mustang G-BTCD, P40E Kittyhawk ZK-RMH - appeared in striking and authentic new liveries and were piloted by the core group of Ray Hanna, Nigel Lamb, Lee Proudfoot and (kindly released for the Summer by Air New Zealand) Keith Skilling. Reservists were Cliff Spink and Steve Johnson
The display begins with the fourship's arrival pass along display line, followed by a series of close-formation aerobatic manoeuvres giving an unrivalled opportunity to study and compare types - including the unique mix of engine notes that come from two merlins, one Pratt and Whitney and one Allison engine. The aircraft then break for a low-level tailchase to allow the aircraft to be viewed 'alone' until regrouping at the end for a final flypast, run and break.
